The PC Engine (also known as TurboGrafx-16 in North America) was released in:

* Japan: October 30, 1987
* North America: August 29, 1989 (as TurboGrafx-16)
* Europe: September 1990 (as TurboGrafx-16)

Note that the PC Engine was a pioneering console in terms of graphics and sound capabilities, and it played an important role in the development of the video game industry.
